RC of Khulna North Awarded Grant

Rotary Club of Khulna North has been awarded an humanitian grant from Rotary International to provide aid for Daulatpur Mohsin High School and the villages of Deana, Arong-Gahata and Gaikur. The grant was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Temecula with support from Lake Elsinore Rotary, Murrieta Rotary and San Bernardino Sunset Rotary. The grant provides funding for mosquito nets, blankets, fry for fisheries, umbrellas, six latrines, school dresses, shoes, school supplies, electric fans for the school, school benches, calulators, tooth paste, tooth brushes and water filters.

A portion of a letter from Rotarian Sk. Adbul Hadi, Past President Rotary Club of Khulna North, "As per our previous correspondences I am sending the proposal for a Matching Grant. Village “Deana, Aronh-ghata, Gaikur” (and surrounding area within DEANA Union) is a very slummy area; people are destitute, living their lives under poverty. Poor people suffering for lack of opportunities, having very low standard of living. We can provide them sustainable assistance in different way. They have ponds for fishery/hatchery, places for cows, goats, and poultry. Some of them need sanitary latrines, Sewing Machine, Mosquito nets Blankets etc. A number of very poor children are not able to go to school for financial hardship. They need school dress, writing books, dot pen, dictionary, calculator, umbrellas, tooth pastes, brush with dental checkup, Water filters, shoes etc. We may provide immense benefits to the poor students. Daulatpur Muhasin Secondary School is the oldest (Estab.1867) and largest (700 + students) Non-Government school of this area. There is a dozen of secondary (V1 to 10) institution in this area. Only teaching and official staffs are getting some benefit from government. Every school needs some help support. We choose Daulatpur Muhasin secondary school and they needs some High bench, Electric fans,..."

Bangladesh 2nd Health Care Camp


Temecula Rotary assists Health Care Camp a half a world away

Temecula Rotary provides financial assistance to Rotary Club of Khulna North, Khulna, Bangladesh for their first "Health Care Camp" for the Rotary year 2012-13.

Reported by Rotarian Sk. Abdul Hadi, Rotary Club of Khulna North, Khulna, Bangladesh:

"Rotary Club of Khulna North implemented the first “Health Care Camp” for the Rotary year 2012-13 with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Temecula, District 5330, USA on Thursday, 9 August 2012 from 9:00 am (9:00 am to 1:30pm), at A H Bhuyan Rotary Clinic and Diabetic Center, 24 Old Jessore Road, Khalishpur, Khulna.

Our physician President Rtn. Dr. Saidul Islam together with PP Dr. Mostafa Kamal, and PE Dr. M. B. Zaman clinically examined the underprivileged malnourished mothers, children and senior citizens.  Members of the club and some Medical staffs assisted them to implement the project.  105 patients were provided medications and consultations. Few patients were referred to Government hospitals for further Medicare.

Rotaractors and young Rotarians extended their help and support to recruit the patients from the surrounding slum areas.  Zonal Rotary leaders including Lieutenant Governor Rtn Farhad Ahmed Akand and some invited guests observed the camp."

The camps will continue over the next several months. The Rotary Club of Temecula financial assistance provides medicines and supplies. Previously, our club supported the Rotary Club of Khulna North efforts to provide blankets and mosquito netting distributed at clinic sites and slums.
